Certification Types
Types of Certifications
There are three types of Clever integrations, each with a certification process:
- Clever Library
- Clever Single Sign-On (SSO)
- Clever Secure Sync
- Clever LMS Connect
If you are unsure which integration type you need to build, please use the Integration Picker to help inform your decision.
Clever Library
Clever Library installs are teacher-initiated. Teachers install your application through the Clever Library and can provision accounts on-demand for themselves and their students.
Data received:
- Teacher name
- Teacher email
- Student first name and last initial
- Section (class) information

Working with Teachers
Learn how applications connect with teachers:
Clever Single Sign-On
Clever Single Sign-On connections are managed in the Clever Dashboard by district administrators. Your application can be added through the Request Application page of the Clever Dashboard. This integration facilitates SSO for any Clever user scoped by a district administrator.
Data received:
- User first name
- User last name
- Email address

Clever Secure Sync
Clever Secure Sync connections are also managed in the Clever Dashboard by district administrators. Your application can be added through the Request Application page of the Clever Dashboard. This integration allows you to pull district, school, user, and enrollment data via the Clever API, provided the district shares the data.
Data received:
- User personal and demographic data
- Rostering data

Clever LMS Connect
Clever LMS Connect connections are also managed in the Clever Dashboard by district administrators. Your application can be added through the Applications > LMS Connect page of the Clever Dashboard. This integration allows you perform grade and assignment writeback to the district's LMS. It also supports user LTI SSO via the district's LMS.

Multiple Certifications
You can be certified for more than one integration type:
- For Clever Library integration, submit for certification once.
- For Clever Library and Secure Sync integration built simultaneously, submit for certification separately.
- For District SSO and Secure Sync integration built simultaneously, submit for certification once.
- For Clever LMS Connect -----
- For any combination of integration types built separately, submit for each certification separately.
